Car enthusiasts turned out to see cars and other area residents turned out to see each other at Hot August Night Thursday on the courthouse square in Jefferson. With 350 cars, motorcycles and tractors, the vehicles packed all four blocks around the square and extended east toward the Sierra Community Theatre as well.
An estimated 1,300 to 1,400 people checked out the 350 vehicles in the Hot August Night show or attended the free showing of Grease at the theatre.
Hot August Night was organized by Greene County Chamber and Development with chairs Miranda Wahl and Leanne Hostetler of McAtee Tire and Service Center, Chuck Wenthold, Toni Linberg (Chamber board events committee chairwoman) and Pam Olerich, assisted by Chamber executive assistant Sheilah Pound, executive director Chris Henning and office assistant Brandon Gustoff..
Olerich headed up the food crew with volunteers Jason and Cherie Cerveny, Ann Grace Krieger, Nikki Uebel, Jody Blair, Shelly and Bill Berger, Alan Robinson, Anna and Tim Pound, Ben Yoder, David Jaskey, Randy Downey, John Brunow, Omega Sang, Cindy Deal, Bill Monroe, Joan St Clair and Deana Shriver.
The set-up and tear down crew included BJ Adams, Clay Ross, Tim johnson, Vern Foje, Dylan Lansman and the local Boy Scouts, headed up by Scott Johnson.
